Red Hots

So if you have been following my blog and actually reading it, you should be aware that I love concerts. They are one of my favorite things to go to and I have been fortunate enough to have been to many.

Well, GUESS WHO'S COMING TO TOWN? Since I'm assuming none of you are telepathic (unless Sylar is reading this..*Heroes reference*) than I shall tell you. The Red Hot Chili Peppers!!! I love them and I would be super stoked if I saw them in concert. I am currently reading the lead singer, Anthony Kiedis' book, and I feel like if I could just talk to him I could ask him so many questions about what I've read! It would be so cool so see him now perform, knowing his life story and everything he's done to get to the position he is in now.

So I asked my dad to get me and a friend tickets because he is a magician when it comes to scoring awesome concert tickets. This is how the conversation went:

Me: "Dad! The Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming in November!! Can you get me tickets?!"
Dad: "Pfft, since when do you like them? Name three songs."

Apparently my father doesn't know me after 18 years of my existence. Considering I've always liked the band, I was horrified. Who is this man I call my father? So I listed about ten songs and he said he would try to get some good tickets. All in all, I am really excited and hope for some great tickets. GO TERRY GO.

Writing Reflection #5

Blogging
At the beginning of this semester when we just began blogging, I was fairly skeptical. Though I liked the idea, I didn't think I would be very good at it. For a while, I was right. Now that I've continued and learned more about blogging I find it easier and more enjoyable. I still have some difficulty thinking of what to add for any personal additions, because a personal addition can be anything. It's so broad and vague that it's difficult to narrow it down and add something that is meaningful to you and that you can expand on.

Twitter
I don't think I'd like to learn more about Twitter. I currently have it and really see no reason for why I got it in the first place. I feel it's just a way for people to post things on the internet without any actual meaning. I basically have it to follow some celebrities, but even their tweets seem kind of pointless.

Fan Fiction
I have never heard of fan fiction but after googling it,  I think it's an interesting way of writing. I may have encountered such writing in the past but never known what it was called. Now I do, and it sounds interesting. I think it could be easy to write depending on the topic you choose. Overall I think exploring different forms of writing such as this is important in this class and I look forward to learning more about it.

Reading Reflection #5

Book: Scar Tissue
Author: Anthony Kiedis

So, this book has continued to shock me. So many things happen in Anthony's life that you do kind of expect from someone in his position but having all of the crazy assumptions about his life you have confirmed, is a different story. Knowing where he has come from and everything he's been through makes you understand him more which I suppose was one of the main reasons for publishing the autobiography. Although, even though I understand him more, that doesn't mean I agree with everything he's done in the past. Really he's been a total idiot and is lucky to be alive right now. All of the drugs and alcohol and partying, I don't know how his band mates didn't find him lying in a ditch somewhere. Yes, I agree that a lot of his decision making was influenced by how he was raised and the environment he was raised in, but there comes a time when you have to separate yourself from all of that and realize you need to make your own decisions wisely and not let your past affect you. I am still really enjoying reading this book and it has made me see things in a different light.

In response to the friday reading class questions, my reading is going well. I already read at home before starting this class and enjoy it. I usually read a little before bed, but lately I've been busy and have been so tired I fall asleep as soon as I get into bed. I'd say my reading habits have remained the same throughout the semester. I enjoy reading and try to take some time and ignore the tv, computer, phone and any other technology and just read for a while. I find it clears my mind. Give it a try.
