Reading Reflection #5

Book: Scar Tissue
Author: Anthony Kiedis

So, this book has continued to shock me. So many things happen in Anthony's life that you do kind of expect from someone in his position but having all of the crazy assumptions about his life you have confirmed, is a different story. Knowing where he has come from and everything he's been through makes you understand him more which I suppose was one of the main reasons for publishing the autobiography. Although, even though I understand him more, that doesn't mean I agree with everything he's done in the past. Really he's been a total idiot and is lucky to be alive right now. All of the drugs and alcohol and partying, I don't know how his band mates didn't find him lying in a ditch somewhere. Yes, I agree that a lot of his decision making was influenced by how he was raised and the environment he was raised in, but there comes a time when you have to separate yourself from all of that and realize you need to make your own decisions wisely and not let your past affect you. I am still really enjoying reading this book and it has made me see things in a different light.

In response to the friday reading class questions, my reading is going well. I already read at home before starting this class and enjoy it. I usually read a little before bed, but lately I've been busy and have been so tired I fall asleep as soon as I get into bed. I'd say my reading habits have remained the same throughout the semester. I enjoy reading and try to take some time and ignore the tv, computer, phone and any other technology and just read for a while. I find it clears my mind. Give it a try.
