Reading Reflection #4

Book: Mockingjay
Author: Suzanne Collins
Pages Read: 110-195

So Im a little more than halfway through this book now and it has finally picked up a bit. I was getting bored of it before the last couple chapters and thought about putting it down but decided to keep going to finish the series. So the main character, Katniss, has been bothering me lately. She's being a bit pathetic when she needs to be strong for so many people. I understand you're in the middle of a confusing love triangle and people are trying to kill you blah blah blah. Stop complaining and do your job please. All of this said, I'm looking forward to finishing the book/series. I still dont know how it's going to end up. The author does a good job of making sure you're surprised yet prepared for the major events to come. I know this will continue until the end of the book. I like in a book when they leave something until the very last sentence of a chapter, so you can't put the book down without finding out what comes next. I feel this way many times throughout this book which is part of the reason I continued even when I wasn't really enjoying the book anymore.

I'm really excited for the movie to come out but the actors they chose were not how I imagined them in the book. I find its rare that movie characters look how you think they should if you've read the book before seeing the movie. For example, I pictured Gale to look more like Peeta in the film and Peeta to look more like Gale. I find it dissapointing when that happens but I guess its to be expected. Movie makers cant see inside your head and choose characters accordingly. Nonetheless, Im still pumped for the movie. Though its highly anticipated so hopefully its equally as great as the book.
